Marriage

We wish to express our congratulations and best wishes to you both, as you prepare for the Sacrament of Marriage.  The Church, witness of the marriage, has a stake in the Sacrament of Marriage. It makes a difference to the community of believers and to society that marriages are freely entered. “The future of humanity passes by way of the family.”    Familiaris Consortio, #86 (November 22, 1981) Pope John Paul II

Please schedule your initial interview, at least 6 months in advance of your wedding date, by contacting St. Colette’s parish house  at (847) 394-8100.  Based on your individual circumstances, during this interview a parish priest will explain important requirements needed to prepare for your wedding ceremony.  Since each couple is different, the process may also be different.  Some ways in which the process may be different include, but not limited to, a non‑Roman Catholic in the marriage, previous civil or sacramental marriages, and annulments.

All couples are asked to complete the Pre-Cana Marriage preparation course.  Catholic’s are asked to provide a certified record of their Baptism and other Sacraments they have received.  A minister will assist in the preparations for a Wedding Mass, such as readings; and the music director will help you select music for the celebration.

“So now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love.”  Corinthians 13:13
